Toggle1. By Shuttle Bus
Bus is perhaps one of the most developed ways of transportation when you travel to Vietnam. If you want to visit Halong Bay, then it is your first choice on the list.
Shuttle Bus will pick tourists at the Old Quarter and transfer you to Halong at the price of 10$/one way. It takes about 3-4 hours and then you find a cruise to Halong Bay. If you stay in Hanoi Old Quarter, shuttle bus is convenient and quite economical. However, you will have to spend a long time to arrive in Halong.
2. By Private car or taxi
Private car or taxi is a better choice for those who prefer a faster, flexible mean of transportation. If you arrive in the capital and want to start your trip in Halong, then there are many private car and taxi providers to choose. The disadvantages are some careless drivers and the cost which is higher than bus at about 70$ for 4-seater.
3. By Seaplane
One new transport is traveling by seaplane which is the fastest way to Halong. The flight is fantastic because you can contemplate the beautiful scene of thousand isles and the magnificent limestone karts. It is a little bit pricey, but definitely worth the money.
4. By Tour Service
Out of all choices, people prefer tour since they will not have to worry about transportation and accommodation. Tours are usually more expensive than travel on your own but safer. There are also tour guides to give you the information you need on the way. On the downside, you have to follow the tour plan and stay near Hanoi Old Quarter or Opera House to take the shuttle bus arranged by the tour. If you miss the shuttle bus, sometimes they will rent a private car for you, but you still have to pay for that.
