3 Days Explore Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta – SIC

DAY 1: DAY TRIP TO CU CHI TUNNELS

07:30 – 08:00 AM: Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and take you on a bus ride to Cu Chi.

It takes about an hour and a half.

Before we explore Cu Chi Tunnels, you’ll watch a short video about how they were built and how people lived in them during the war. Then you’ll have time to walk around and see different parts of the tunnels, including kitchens, bedrooms, weapon factories, hospitals, and command centers. There are also hidden trap doors and dangerous traps that were used during the war. We’ll have some tea and cassava (food that people ate during the war) to try.

Finally, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh City.

02:30 PM: Arrive at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 2: HO CHI MINH CITY – CAI BE – CAN THO (L)

07:30 AM: Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and head to Cai Be. Once we arrive, we’ll take a boat to what’s left of a famous old floating market on the Tien River. Here, you’ll learn about how locals used to trade, which has changed a lot with modern transportation and farming. You’ll see how diverse the area is and how many fruit orchards there are, making it a major fruit producer in the Mekong Delta.

We’ll wander through small villages, where you’ll see a beautiful old house and learn about local culture. We’ll stop by a family business that makes coconut candy and rice popcorn. Enjoy some tasty fresh fruit and listen to the relaxing sounds of traditional Southern Vietnamese music, an important part of the Mekong Delta’s culture.

Next, we’ll take a fun paddle through small canals. This is a great chance to relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the Upper Mekong Delta. We’ll reach Tan Phong Island and enjoy the quietness of nature.

At lunchtime, you’ll not only have a delicious meal but also learn how to cook some Vietnamese dishes with the locals. The food will be prepared by you and served in a lovely garden setting.

After lunch, we’ll bike through village paths and orchards. You’ll meet the locals and learn about their daily lives in the Mekong Delta. We’ll also visit Ba Kiet’s old house.

Finally, we’ll take a boat back to Cai Be, where you’ll board the bus to Can Tho City.

Dinner on your own. Overnight at a hotel in Can Tho.

DAY 3: CAN THO – CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET – HO CHI MINH CITY (B, L)

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a relaxing boat ride through the beautiful branches of the Lower Mekong River (Bassac River). We’ll then visit Cai Rang Floating Market, the busiest and most exciting market in the area.

Next, we’ll take a walking tour of a local noodle factory and visit Munir Ansay Pagoda, a Khmer temple known for its unusual design. We’ll then take a boat to the Con Son tourist area, where we’ll visit a fruit orchard and enjoy some fresh seasonal fruits.

After lunch, we’ll head back to Ho Chi Minh City. End of services.
