The most ancient bridge in Hoi An is the Japanese Bridge built in the 16th century. The exact date and story of this location are not really confirmed, but it is said that the bridge was created by the Japanese to connect the trading area with the Chinese. Today, Japanese bridge has become the symbol of Hoi An town with its unique architecture.
The bridge features the common style of some Asian countries which has a roof covering the bridge. You can also find many one-of-a-kind decorations from the past and two sculptures of a dog and a monkey. Legend told that the bridge was built to seal the monster Mamazu, stopping it from causing Earthquake. Another theory is that this creation was started in the year of the monkey and finished in the year of the dog according to the Lunar Calendar.
2. Phuc Kien Assembly Hall
Phuc Kien (or Fujian) Assembly Hall is another historical destination for tourists to learn about Hoi An. In 1692, Vietnamese people built a pagoda called Kim Son to worship Buddha. After it was damaged in 1759, Phuc Kien people (from Chinese) bought the pagoda and repaired it before renamed to Fujian Assembly hall.
This location is packed with the ancient architecture of Phuc Kien people adding to the magnificent and beautiful scene from the natural surroundings. Visitors will explore a huge number of Chinese symbols such as dragons, phoenix, turtle and altars which dedicated to Thien Hau (Sea Goddess), her two assistant Thien Ly Nhan and Thuan Phong Nhi who can see and hear ships respectively from thousand miles and other significant figures.
3. Tra Que Vegetable Village
If you want to contemplate the life in the countryside of Vietnam, Tra Que Vegetable Village is a wonderful choice for you. Situated 3 km from the center of Hoi An old town, tourists can join a Tra Que village cycling tour through the peaceful landscape of the village and breath the fresh air in the country. Since the unfortunate erosion of Cua Dai Beach making it less appealing to visitors, An Bang Beach is slowly taking the popularity from the other one. However, it is not fair to say that this beach is just the same as Cua Dai Beach because this is the wildest and untanned beach in the region. Although does not have the crystal-clear water and vast white sand, a trip to An Bang is still worthwhile.
The restaurants in this area are packs with delicious seafood of the region. Not only you may find them extremely fresh but also at reasonable prices. Another great factor of the beach is that not many people decide to spend their time there, so you will have a private space with your family while lazing on the beach.
6. Hoi An Night Market
The night market in Hoi An is a little relaxing walk through various souvenir shops. After a tired day, you may want to spend time contemplating the sparkle streets with a huge number of lanterns on the way. The atmosphere is definitely the attractions of this location.
Nevertheless, for a trip in the market, your main activity is certainly shopping. There are lots of stall selling products such as jewelry, silk fans, statues and especially lantern.
